825 words; about a 4 minute read

Mission: I-402
Location: Sickbay, Deck 5
Timeline: After the meeting

After the briefing, Patricia had received an update from Sickbay: Lieutenant Sidney had regained consciousness. While Patricia was still concerned about the status of Lieutenant Kogami, she nonetheless made her way down to Sickbay to visit Lieutenant Sidney.

"Well, Doctors; what's the good news?" Patricia asked as she arrived in Sickbay.

Dr Bakshi smiled; she was standing at the computer by Lt. Sidney's biobed. "I don't love where her oxygen sats are at, but she's...ok," Lahki said.. Only OK for now; the attacks they had all faced had taken a lot out of all of them, and Lahki was surprised SHE was still standing. She'd rest later.

"How are YOU?" She asked the Captain, putting out calming vibes towards both women, quietly.

"Relieved to know that some of my crew are bounding back after that disastrous away mission..." Patricia said as the calming vibes washed over her.

The Gorn Counselor arrived in medical and stood by the Captain. She had been rather quiet, merely a presence as she observed the back and forth. Though when she looked at either the Captain or Patricia, her expression softened.

Within a few moments Danielle began to slowly regain herself as she began to wake up. "Captain? How are you alive? This isn't impossible you were murdered" she said as she begin to break out into heavy breathing.

"Easy, Lieutenant!" Patricia tried to keep a reassuring tone. "You're safe now. Whoever you saw kill me was just a figment of your imagination!"

Patricia glanced to Doctor Bakshi before looking around for a nurse to bring over.

Lahki moved into action quickly. "Erradar, grab me a vial of the Thiazide. The 2 CC type, please," she said, to the Counselor. She moved next to the Captain.

"Lt. Kogami. You are ok," she said. "Everyone is ok," she said. It was a small fib-not everyone WAS ok, but they were all alive, at any rate, and that was a win for Lahki.

Within a few moments Danielle had passed out again.

Damn it!! Lahki raised her voice. "Counselor, the hypospray!" she shouted. She moved closer to the biobed, pressing buttons as she did so.

"Sleeping is the best thing for her," she said to the Captain.

"Understood." Patricia nodded. "Keep me updated?"

Lahki nodded once. "Of course," she said. "How often would you like an update?" The Betazed asked.

"No need to inundate me with updates." Patricia responded. "If you or any of your staff find out why she thinks it's a paradox that we're alive, let me know. Otherwise, I think she's got a long way to go before I clear her for even light duty."

Lahki nodded once. "Of course, ma'am," she said. "I wouldn't even recommend it right now," she said. "I'd like the Counselor to meet with all of the crew we have here in Medical, and yourself, before we finalize anything," she said.

"Sounds good to me." Patricia said. "Well, as you were."

Eradaar nodded, gazing between Lahki and the others. "I can manage that," she said, softer than usual.

Lahki smiled. "You're doing fine," she said. "Alright, Captain. See you later on. I'll keep you informed, I promise," she said.

When Patricia arrived back in her ready room, she let out a big sigh. This first update was not good, and she was hoping that the next one would go better:

"Computer, begin personal log:" Patricia ordered as she sat down at the desk. The computer beeped in acknowledgement, indicating that recording was now in progress.

"Captain's personal log: I've just returned from sickbay and checking up on the status of Lieutenant Sidney, and safe to say, things aren't looking good: I don't know what Lieutenant Sidney might have seen, but she somehow thinks me and everyone else were murdered. Unfortunately, the conversation didn't last very long, as Lieutenant Sidney lost consciousness shortly thereafter."

"It's hard for me not to feel responsibility to have not one, but two officers comatose in Sickbay." Patricia commented. "As Captain of the Missouri, it is my duty to keep every single one of my charges safe, and I failed: I led my crew into danger, and this is the price I'm paying. Maybe I should quit while I'm ahead, before somebody gets killed, and I'm the one to answer for it..."

"Computer, end recording." Patricia ordered.

When the computer beeped in acknowledgement, indicating the recording had stopped, Patricia let out another big sigh before picking up the PADD that she had left on her desk to figure out where she was in her work before she had left. Fortunately for Patricia, she only needed to stare at the PADD for a few seconds to jog her memory as to what she had been doing.
