Captain's Log, Starship Missouri:
I-400 may be no more, but the mark it leaves on the galaxy may be felt for years to come:
For starters, Planetoid Lazzaro has been completely destroyed. While it was by no means a densely populated world, there were still residents who were lost in the crossfire and explosion. We must pause to remember them, because their blood is on Starfleet's hands. Already, surveys are estimating that the explosion of Planetoid Lazzaro has cast a 75 light year debris field north of the Neutral Zone, effectively cutting off Federation holdings in that sector.
Among the list of casualties is Oko Gane: She sacrificed her life in order to save that of my security chief, and for that, I am recommending that she be posthumously pardoned for her previous crimes against the Federation, and that her survivor brother, Boso, may be granted the same. Unfortunately, there were also Starfleet personnel who did not make it off before Lazzaro blew: Lieutenant T'eseri, Gunnery Sergeant Erbun, and the marines he brought with him all gave their lives in service of the Federation.
As yet more crew get rotated out from under me, including Commander Nixon and Lieutenant Shimoda, the Missouri has been recalled to Camp Khitomer, where she is to be placed in formal commission. Word is that the our commissioning is to be the highlight of a major diplomatic conference there, one which could see most of the major galactic powers enter a new age of peace with the signing of a new Khitomer accords.
I haven't heard if Admiral Izumi will be present at our commissioning as was originally rumored, and frankly, I'd be happy if she didn't show up, given what happened with her sister. I'm not sure if I'd be able to hold myself back from speaking my mind over Tsukasa.
Despite everything that's happened- I believe that the voyages of the Starship Missouri are just beginning. That what was written was merely a turbulent prologue to the stories that are waiting to be told. After all, any other ship may have folded after what's happened to us, yet still we soldier on, because at the end of the day, we shall be the ones to provide Strength for Freedom.
