New Missouri, New Captain

Posted on Tue Aug 8th, 2023 @ 8:37am by Commander Patricia Cooke

205 words; about a 1 minute read

In wake of the attack on the New Year's party at Camp Khitomer by the entity known as I-400, and with emergency authorization by Rear Admiral Kagami Izumi; on this day, the first of January, twenty four hundred; I, Commander Patricia Martin Cooke, hereby succeed the late Captain Aika Tenku as Commanding Officer of the Starship Missouri, effective immediately. In so doing, I pledge myself to ensure the safe passage of this vessel and her crew for as long as I may hold this center chair.

This message is to be stored in the ship's computer as certification of my command.

It is my understanding that we have only forty-eight hours to get this ship out of drydock, so it is imperative that all senior staff report in. If any further accommodations are required to perform one's duties, please reach out to myself or Commander Izumi at the earliest opportunity.

I know what I'm asking might be a tall order for some, but the price of freedom is high; and it always has been. And it's a price that I'm willing to pay: If I'm the only one, then so be it, but I'm willing to bet that I'm not.

That will be all. Dismissed.
